Ling Chen graduated with a first class honours degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in 2002, which was based on a 5-year joint degree course from the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, China and Middlesex University in the UK. The programme required study and practical clinical experience in both countries.
As an experienced practitioner and a member of the Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ATCM), Ling Chen currently treats patients privately in GP surgeries by direct access, which are accessible to the local community. Many of Ling Chen's patients come to see her by word of mouth. She also receives referrals from GPs, physiotherapists, psychotherapists and nutritionists. Ling's Medical Acupuncture practice is based on the principles of integrated health - using both acupuncture and herbal medicine combined with empirical medical knowledge on the origin of disease.
Ling Chen has a particular interest in pain management and spinal cord related conditions. To refine her treatment of these painful conditions, she pursued an MSc in pain science at Kings College London in 2009. Ling continues to keep up to date, attending master classes on innovative acupuncture techniques, especially in the context of how this may be applied to disorders of the spine and its associated nerves.
In consultations, Ling Chen's aim is to approach each patient holistically, respecting the diversity of backgrounds, needs and life stages. Taking the time with her patients, Ling wants to treat the causes rather than focus only on the symptoms, delivering the highest quality of care for her patients.
Ling Chen is a member of ATCM (The Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture UK).
